CCIIO Webinar: Background Research for Designing Insurance Exchanges - Data Sources & Modeling Approaches
Lynn Blewett presented on January 25, 2011, during a webinar for states that have received Affordable Care Act insurance exchange planning grants from the Office of Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (OCCIO). Dr. Blewett spoke to an audience of state officials about designing an exchange through the use of modeling. She spoke about spreadsheet vs. microsimulation approaches and addressed the identification of key modeling variables along with the appropriate data sources for measuring them.
Have Gender Gaps in Insurance Coverage and Access to Care Narrowed under Health Reform? Findings from Massachusetts
Presentation by Sharon Long, Karen Stockley (Urban Institute), and Shanna Shulman (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation) at the American Economic Association Annual Meetings, January 8, 2011 in Denver, CO. This research examines the impacts of health reform on gender disparities in Massachusetts, including insurance coverage, access to and use of health care, and the affordability of health care between fall 2006, just prior to the implementation of key elements of health reform in the state, and fall 2009, the most recent year for which post-reform data are currently available.
