A survey of Minnesota households by the State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC) and Minnesota Department of Health found that an estimated 8.2 percent, or approximately 445,000 Minnesotans including about 80,000 children, were without health insurance last year. Further, the study also found that about 1 out of 3 Minnesotans under the age of 65 experienced financial burdens related to obtaining health care or did not get care because of cost in 2013.
