SHARE hosted a webinar on September 1, 2010, about the use of federal and state survey data for evaluating the impact of health reform at the state level. A recording of the event, “Using the National Health Interview Survey to Evaluate State Health Reform – Findings from New York and Massachusetts,” is now available online.
The webinar features two speakers: First, SHADAC Senior Economist Sharon Long presents findings from her research using the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) to evaluate state health reform in New York and Massachusetts. Dr. Long discusses the feasibility of using national survey data to examine the impacts of health reform in individual states, given issues such as small sample sizes and delays in data availability. Dr. Long is followed by Audrey Gasteier, Director of Health Systems Policy and the Massachusetts Division of Health Care Finance and Policy, who speaks from a state perspective on the need for data to support state policy-making and evaluations related to health reform, discussing Massachusetts’ experience in this area.
