November 29, 2010: Stan Dorn, of the Urban Institute, has released an analysis of Connecticut’s options for its SustiNet health plan, a public insurance program through which the state hopes to attain universal coverage for its residents. The analysis shows that the state could achieve a significant reduction in the state’s number of uninsured while saving between $32 million and $427 million in the first year after implementation.
Dorn analyzed the economic impacts of six coverage scenarios. According to the report, each scenario would cut the number of uninsured residents in Connecticut by more than half, and all but one would save money for the state, in large part due to the capture of additional federal money under the ACA.
