The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) has launched a new online tool, the RWJF DataHub, which tracks state-level data and allows users to customize and visualize facts and figures on key health and health care topics using interactive maps and charts (example below).
The DataHub was constructed with the goal of establishing a system of priority measures for monitoring state-level progress toward improving the nation’s health and health care. “Having access to reliable data is critical to any effort to improve this nation’s health and health care. Providing information in ways that makes it easy to use and visualize magnifies the power of good data,” said David Colby, Vice President for Research and Evaluation at RWJF.
SHADAC researchers provided the data and analysis for building the DataHub and continue to conduct ongoing updates in order to ensure that the DataHub’s measures are timely and accessible.
The DataHub allows users to select from six categories of data: (1) covering the uninsured; (2) health care costs; (3) health care quality, value, and equality; (4) healthier lifestyles; (5) public health; and (6) social determinants of health. After selecting a category, the user can then select from a range of six to 11 available indicators, depending on the category chosen.
