Recap: SHADAC at 2016 AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting

SHADAC Staff
July 13, 2016

SHADAC faculty, staff, and students recently attended and presented at the 2016 AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting (ARM) in Boston from Sunday, June 26th, to Tuesday, June 28th. SHADAC members also presented at and attended multiple Interest Group Meetings preceding the ARM on Saturday, June 25th (see presentation materials below).

As in years past, SHADAC hosted a booth in the ARM exhibit hall where we walked visitors through the SHADAC Data Center; answered questions about state and national data sources on coverage, access, and costs; and discussed SHADAC's technical assistance offerings.

The SHADAC team was excited this year to see University of Minnesota's Health Policy and Management Associate Professor, Katy B. Kozhimannil, receive the 2016 Alice S. Hersh New Investigator Award. This award recognizes scholars early in their careers as health services researchers who show exceptional promise for future contributions to the field. View Dr. Kozhimannil's acceptance speech.

Conference Extras...

SHADAC hosted our annual SHADAC & SHARE networking breakfast on the 27th and was pleased to see a great turnout. This event brings together SHADAC researchers, our colleagues throughout the country, leaders of SHARE-funded research projects, state officials, and others with an interest in state health policy and research. Attendees have an opportunity to network with one another and to generate and share research and policy ideas

Also on the 27th, Kathleen Call, Brett Fried, Elizabeth Lukanen, and Carrie Au-Yeung participated in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Leadership Network Walking Tour around Boston. They enjoyed learning more about Boston from a public health perspective and talking with fellow RWJF leaders.
