The State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC) has created a new interactive map showing the number of people at the ZIP Code level who have enrolled in Qualified Health Plans (QHP) through Federally Facilitated Marketplaces (FFM). These data were just released by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE), and they represent the first opportunity to see FFM QHP enrollment at the sub-state level.
The enrollment figures in the map represent individuals who signed up during the open enrollment period from Oct. 1, 2013, to March 31, 2014, as well as enrollments during Special Enrollment Periods through April 19, 2014. The map includes data from 36 states: those that participated in the Federally Facilitated Marketplace, those that used a State Partnership Marketplace, and those that had a federally supported State-based Marketplace.

How to Use the Map
To access data in the map, simply zoom in to your area of interest (use the plus or minus signs in the upper-left corner, or double-click a spot on the map). Once you see the gray outlines of ZIP Code boundaries, select a ZIP Code with a single click. The enrollment data will pop up in a window. Alternately, you can use the search bar at the top of the page. This will bring you to the ZIP Code on the map and you can single-click to see the data.
The data are color-coded: The darker the shade, the more enrollments. Enrollment data for ZIP Code shaded gray were not published by ASPE, and those shaded white have no data (e.g., State-based Marketplaces, or areas with no population, such as national parks, bodies of water, and wilderness areas).
