July 30, 2010: SHADAC Director Lynn Blewett was quoted in a July 29, 2010, MinnPost article on a new approach to dealing with Minnesota's medically vulnerable poor.
The article describes a coordinated care delivery system being tested by four Minnesota hospitals to provide care for the state's 35,000 uninsured, very low-income, single adults.
Lynn Blewett is quoted in the article about the timing of the transition and the need for a better understanding of how best to provide care for this vulnerable population, with an eye toward full Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act of 2010. "For this population, there is nothing similar anywhere," said Dr. Blewett, pointing out that the new system is unique both because of its "medical home" approach and because of the insufficient funding with which hospitals will be attempting to apply it.
